This class includes restorative yoga and meditation. Restorative yoga is noticeably different from more active styles of yoga. This practice is a therapeutic yoga style where the focus is deep relaxation. Using passive yoga postures and props to support the body, we allow the nervous system to shift and unwind, encouraging true rest. We let the pose “do us” rather than we “do the pose”, moving from effort to surrender. When we relax and nurture ourselves in this way we relieve effects from negative stress encountered in daily life - encouraging a true and deep rest to renew. In class we practice stillness or gentle movement for extended periods of time.

The task and goal of restorative yoga is to calm the body and mind and to be wholly present. It's a relaxing style of practice that leaves you feeling open and refreshed. After we relax the body, then it’s time to turn inward even more and explore the practice of meditation. Different meditation techniques are used to expand students’ awareness and practice of the techniques of meditation throughout all lineages and traditions. Expect to gain energy, de-stress and sleep better. Beginners and experienced practitioners welcome.

Meditation and Restorative Yoga classes run on Mondays at 7.15pm.
