Sun Power Yoga

Sun Power Yoga is an eclectic blend of Sivananda, Iyengar and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.  The aim of the class is to create flowing sequences of postures with a focus on breath work and mindfulness.  In yoga, we aim to unite the mind and body with the breath (ujjayi breathing) this enables us to create expansion and movement within the body.  This class is a traditionally focused practice.

We start class with a beginning relaxation (savasana) we then move onto our breathing exercises (pranayama) which allows the body to eradicate toxins, negativity and clear the energy channels in the subtle body, we then move onto the yoga postures using music, creating a sense of movement and release throughout the physical body we then close with a final relaxation (savasana) allowing the body time to absorb all you have done in your practice.  To close we chant the three oms together allowing the universal sound to fill the room.

Some of the asanas can be challenging, creating internal heat (agni) in the body, allowing greater flexibility.  This class aims to create a sense of balance and calm within both the mind and body for overall health and wellbeing.  It is available to all levels of experience, including those brand new to yoga.
